The Royal Bank of Canada presented a cheque recently in support of
the Greater Barrie Business Enterprise Centre. The Royal Bank will be
joining the Business Enterprise Resource Network (sponsored by Human
Resources Development Canada), Ontario Ministry of Enterprise, Opportunity
and Innovation, City of Barrie, and the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce,
as partners forming support of the Greater Barrie Business Enterprise
Centre.
The Business Enterprise Resource Network of Barrie - South Simcoe Inc.
is a not for profit corporation specializing in assistance for the entrepreneur
and small business. They offer a library, forms and publications, seminars,
workshops, workstations and other resources to help those interested
in self employment. The Business Enterprise Resource Network (BERN)
will now house the Greater Barrie Business Enterprise Centre allowing
them to pool resources and provide help to existing businesses operating
for less than 5
years. Another benefit through this partnership is the enhancement of
business support programs for youth by introducing the Business
Plan Competition (for school youths), Summer Company,
and My Company to the greater Barrie area.
The Greater Barrie Business Enterprise Centre was formed in February
2002 and the Advisory Committee is made up of the Ministry of Enterprise,
Opportunity and Innovation, City of Barrie, Human Resources Development
Canada, Business Enterprise Resource Network, Greater Barrie Chamber
of Commerce, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs.
The
Royal Bank will be the newest member of the Advisory Committee and funding
partner.
